It’s been a warm winter, and not much snow has fallen. This third race in the series was held at Euclid Timber Frames in Heber. There wasn’t a lot of snow, but enough. The start finish was pretty muddy so sawdust was thrown down to make a nice spongy surface. The snow was soft and mushy, with some muddy sections. As the riders circled the short course, the singletrack got trenched out. Sharp hairpin corners made for challenging riding, the soft snow forced riders to run up some sections, and most people hit the deck at least once. This looked more like a cyclocross race than a fat bike race. But all seemed to enjoy themselves. Trek was on hand with demo Farley’s for free. And of course Mad Dog Cycles (http://maddogcycles.com/), the race organizer, was there with their mobile repair truck and merchandise for sale. As usual a raffle was held at the end of the race. Scroll down for race results. Howlin’ Wolfe had a great race and won the A race handily.
