It’s been a good snow year this Winter. Good storms, sometimes raining in the valleys, but snowing up high. I’ve been riding my fatbike regularly in the snow this year, all the usual places, Big Springs, Round Valley (Park City), Pine Hollow (American Fork Canyon), and Aspen Grove (actually the Alpine Loop on the Sundance side). I either ride solo or with my brother most of the time. Reggie (my dog) loves to run and fetch, and is with me on all these rides. Sometimes Jason’s dog Henry comes along as well. Below are some photos from some of the rides this Winter.

Even though it’s feeling like Spring in the valley, there is still lots of snow in the mountains.

One of our more enjoyable rides was one evening up at Big Springs. It was snowing pretty heavily and the trails up higher weren’t packed out that well. Night time riding is really fun, provided you have good lights, and when it is snowing, it’s all pretty magical. When we hit the upper meadows the trail kind of disappeared so we just headed straight down through the powder, and surprisingly there was enough of a packed base beneath the powder that is was ridable, and we just shushed through the snow like we were powder skiing. Pretty memorable.
