The Frosty’s Fat Bike Race Series started last year as a competitive race series for fatbikes organized by Mad Dog Cycles in Orem, Ut. This year there are six races, two of which are night races. The first event of the season was on a groomed track at Nordic Valley ski resort in Eden, UT. The course consisted of a two mile loop of groomed track with a short section of soft singletrack that most riders hiked through. One spot on the course had three jumps. A total of 43 riders entered three divisions, Abominable A (Expert), Bigfoot B (Sport), and Chilly C (Novice). Division A rode four laps, Division B three, and Division C two. Some riders were there to race hard and others were just out to have a good time. Based on all the smiles we saw, everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves. The weather was excellent, probably in the high teens with some cloud cover.
Geoffrey Montague continued his win streak by handily winning Division A at this first race in the season. He swept the series last year and is looking to be a formidable opponent this year as well. Howlin Wolfe and Chris Stuart took second and third respectively. For complete race results and more photos see the Frosty Race Series Facebook page:

At the conclusion of the race there was a raffle for all participants. Probably half the riders walked away with some prizes. Mad Dog Cycles also had their van there selling merchandise, and a load of fatbikes to demo. Other race sponsors also had tents and merchandise.
Below are some of the highlights of the races, beginning with a short video.
